On my ADHD:

In November of 2023, I was officially diagnosed with ADHD. As my psychiatrist at the time said, “a typical case of Black girl ADHD”. (We thank God for Black physicians today and everyday.)

After 6 months of TikTok exploration, chatting with friends diagnosed as children, and a significant look into the DSM definitions, I was pretty sure of my diagnosis before even meeting with her.

I had had previous conversations with my GI/Psych doctor in New Orleans (a brilliant combination for the IBS/Anxiety girlies), but the second I said I did well in school, he dismissed my thought stating, “there’s no way you could have gone through a master’s program and been undiagnosed.”
